Hi, I’m Katheryn. Head chef and owner of To Your Taste. Growing up on a fourth generation family farm in Donnybrook, near Underberg, allowed me to explore nature, and to cherish the simplicity and honesty of country life. Since I was a child, I have been planting, nurturing and harvesting seasonal ingredients, and this has given me a deep appreciation for food.
I completed my Grande Diploma in Cordon Bleu Cooking at the Silwood School of Cooking in Cape Town, graduating as student of the year. After my first degree, I stepped out into the big wide world and worked in various hotels and restaurants in Cape Town, learning a great deal and gaining incredible experience. I began to realise that this was exactly what I wanted to be doing every minute of my day, I was alive with energy and creativity. This wasn’t just a job, it was my passion.
I enrolled at the University of Cape Town and completed a postgraduate degree in Entrepreneurship. With two degrees behind me and a yearning to travel and experience food, I took off for France. It was here that I completed courses with the chef of a Michelin Star restaurant. Through this experience I developed my French influenced style of cooking, where everything is made from scratch and seasonal, quality ingredients are celebrated.
I have now returned to my roots in the countryside, stepping out of the fast paced restaurant world and onto a path of imagination and adventure. I have built up my catering business, To Your Taste, where I love cooking up magical food moments that are prepared with love and delivered with care.
